What's happening this week?

Three dates for the diary:

THIS SATURDAY:

Date: Saturday, March 20th
Time: 9:50am onwards
Location: Outside New College
The Scottish Defense League are marching in Edinburgh. The Scottish Defence League are a far-right group with close links to the BNP. They take their message to the streets through the medium of marching. In Glasgow, their members gave the Nazi salute whilst screaming racist abuse. We do not want them to claim Edinburgh. To this end thousands of people are marching against them on Saturday, and we are going to be part of it.

Please feel free to invite others - it'll be a fun and very worthwhile few hours.

SATURDAY 27th February

Time: 10am-2pm
Location: Edinburgh South West Offices
We are taking part in an action day for Edinburgh South West and having Lunch With the Durham Conservatives. This will involve a couple of hours canvassing in Allister Darling's seat. If we can take the Chancellor's seat in Scotland, we will be looking at a huge majority at the election.

If you would like to attend this please contact us at

MARCH

More is planned for March, including an action day, a big supper and some guest speakers, and we are hoping to have a drinks event some time before then.

Chairman's Welcome

Welcome to the Edinburgh University Conservative and Unionist Association.

Established as one of the first university Conservative Associations in 1862, EUCUA boasts a distinguised alumni including Rt. Hon Sir Malcolm Rifkind KCMG (a former Chairman), the MPs Rt. Hon Michael Ancram & Charles Hendry and MSPs David McLetchie & Lord James Douglas-Hamilton.

We are a key player in Conservative Future Scotland (the 18-30 section of the part) and focus our energies on campaigning and a full social programme of speaker events.

This is a very exciting year to be part of the Conservative Party, both at the university and nationally. We are going to be having drinks at least once a month, interspersed with dinners and guest speakers.

For those who want to get more involved with the Party we will also be helping the local candidates with their campaigns leading up to the general election that will be held this year. Keep looking at the website for details of this, or just ask to be added to our emailing list by emailing us.

In a general election year, with support for the Conservative Party at its highest for over twenty years there has never been a better time to join in.

It's going to be a great year...

Joe Cawley

Chairman EUCUA 2009-10
